Police launch murder investigation following fatal assault in Salford
A murder investigation is underway after a man died near a Salford park this morning.
Police were called to near Clarendon Park by the ambulance service shortly after midnight, to reports of a man with serious injuries.
His injuries appeared to be ‘consistent with a stab wound’ and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further details have been released about the male at this stage.
Police say initial enquires are underway and no arrests have been made.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Natalie Dalby, said: "We will continue to investigate what we believe to be an isolated incident, with no wider risk to the public.
"These are the very early stages of what is now a murder investigation, and a team of detectives are working tirelessly to piece together information and evidence. We will be following-up a number of different lines of enquiry we have to ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
