Manchester fights for the right to strike
Thousands gather in St Peter's Square to show their opposition to the controversial bill backed by MPs to prevent strike disruption, our reporter adam clark has more:
Thousands have turned out in a demonstration outside the front of the central library including members of The National Education Union, University & College Union, and National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers.
Members of staff for Metrolink, who operate the tram network across Greater Manchester, are having to walk trams into and out of their stops to prevent any safety issues with the crowds.
Manchester City Council had a meeting ongoing with the demonstration outside, which according to Local Democracy Reporter, Joseph Timan could be heard in the chamber.
What started out as a demonstration has since eventually grown into a march heading down Mosley Street trying to negotiate the trams.
