Students hold up collapsed ceiling at The Factory nightclub
Students were left holding up the ceiling to The Factory nightclub after it fell on their heads in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Half of the first floor ceiling fell through at approximately 1.30am, showering clubbers with plasterboard, LED lights and glass. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Salford student Beth Holmes was at the scene:
"I was on the edge of the dance floor when I felt pieces of plaster fall on my shoulders, some even went in my eye! I turned around and I saw people trying to hold up the ceiling in the center of the room!
I'd avoided factory because I've heard that incidents like this have happened before. That kind of thing scared me, but the fact that it was happening right in front of me was my worst nightmare!"
A Factory spokesperson has confirmed that the same section of plasterboard had come loose on the exact same weekend two years ago. The cause of the collapse is still undetermined.
The first floor of Factory will be closed off while investigations into the issue are made. Meanwhile the ground and second floors will remain open as usual.
